HairFlixTV had the opportunity to cover Elan Sassoon's launch party for his new hair care line, Sojourn. We traveled to the chic W Hotel in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida with a production crew to cover this elite event. In an exclusive interview, Elan shared with us his personal passion and journey of his hair care line. He explained to us the amazing chemistry behind these wonderful products and how excited he was to finally share them with the public. These products will soon be available for purchase through beauty professionals everywhere.

Champagne was flowing in the luxurious lounge at The W for what was to be a historic even for the beauty industry. Florida was the first stop on the 8 city Sojourn launch party tour and the 500 guests were all greeted and able to interact one on one with Elan and his team. We had the pleasure of speaking with Lawrence Williams, the co-founder of Sojourn, who was more than thrilled to start the party. Also, present was creative director, Melissa Stone, and Rob Guimond, Sojourn's very own director of chemistry. Many of the attendees there were friends of Elan's legendary father, Vidal Sassoon, the man who revolutionized the hair industry.

Kevin Murphy Hair Products

Kevin Murphy has a fashion focused hair product line for all you Aussie's out there. His Australian philosophy of "no worries" gives this hair care line a taste of the relaxed and organic lifestyle he represents. One thing I like is his promise that all of his products are sulphate free and paraben free. This ensures your hairs health by not exposing it to the harsh chemicals that strip your hair of its natural oils that most generic shampoos contain.

Kevin Murphy's most popular product is his Angel Wash and Angel Rinse which contains milk proteins that repairs fine hair due to colored or chemically straightened hair treatments. I am most excited about his dry shampoo FRESH.HAIR. He calls it a dry cleaner for your hair because it removes all unwanted oils, product and odors without any water. It's a fast way to freshen up your hair after the gym, long flight or a night out on the town.

Kevin Murphy product line is now available at HairFlix.

Kim-kardashian-hair

I finally have found the secret to having hair like Kim Kardashian! I have tried many products trying to maintain long, healthy hair and the DermOrganic Hair Treatment Trio has finally come to my rescue.

Maintaining long hair can be quite the task. Dealing with split ends from color and heat damage can take its toll on your hair over time. Celebrities like Kim Kardashian, who style their hair everyday, must use treatments that protect their hair from damage.

<![CDATA[Just Dust It With Sudzz FX Design Powder ]]> sudzzfx.jpeg

Sudzz FX, maker of some of our favorite Sulfate Free cleansing products, has just introduced one of the most awesomely unusual multitasking styling products we've ever seen. SudzzFX Design Powder is three products in one—two for your hair, and one for your face. (Yes, I said your Face!)

In regards to your hair, Sudzz Fx Design Powder can act as a volumizer by being applied to the roots for fantastic lift just like the Osis Dust It Powder, giving your hair fullness and separation. But on days you don't feel like washing, it can also serve as an excess-oil-absorbing product like dry shampoo.Amazingly enough, just like dry shampoo it absorbs excess oil on the hair and scalp.

Why pay extra for a cosmetic matt dusting powder to seal your makeup and remove shine from your face. Now you can use your Sudzz Fx Design Powder to stop that oily shine on your face, beautifully mattifying your complexion with its simple silica formula.

This concept may sound odd at first, but once you simplify your daily beauty routine with a unique product like the Design Powder, you'll wonder why other products can't solve more than one beauty issue at a time.

<![CDATA[Katharine McPhee's New Hair Style]]>

Katharine McPhee has always been known for her lush brown locks, but she’s taken a new direction with this choppy, blonde hair ‘do. Kate revealed this short, blonde hair cut in a cover shoot for her new album. This American Idol runner-up has just released her sophomore album, Unbroken, on October 6th 2009.

In an interview with People Magazine, McPhee stated how her new blonde hair has changed her complete style: “This look has affected the way I dress, it’s inspired me to be more adventurous with what I decide to wear. It’s silly that something so simple as changing your hair could have such a big effect. I’m just having fun with it. This is a great time for me to do something different. I’m young — I always try to have a good time.”

Everyone isn't as adventurous as Katharine McPhee but sometimes less dramatic changes can help you feel fantastic. Most times all you need to do is change your shampoo or styling products that make your hair less frizzy and more manageable.

What do you think? Love the blonde or hate it?

LA Fashion Week is a endeavor with events spattered throughout downtown LA. It’s a much less cohesive series of events than New York Fashion Week because it offers a more local slant. Brooke Hogan (Brooke Knows Best), Kit Scarbo and Nick Verreos (Project Runway alums), Tatiana Ali (Young and the Restless) and Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa stopped by to experience first hand the magic of GlamPalm. Heroes and Vampire Diaries are among current hit television shows using the GlamPalm styling wand.

<![CDATA[Hair Tips: What is the Shape of my Face? by: Claudia Deisti HairFlix member]]> Face Shape

What is your Face Shape?

Any decent stylist knows that the shape of your face strongly determines the type of hair style that can compliment or badly detract from your natural beauty. Yes I know there are always exceptions to the rule. Even in nature of have the bumble-bee that technically shouldn’t fly or the Duck-billed platypus that according to evolutionists shouldn’t even exist and we in the fashion world have Kate Moss who by all standards, with her wide set, Hammerhead shaped eyes really shouldn’t have a contract but those are exemptions and not the standard.

Now most people can easily look in the mirror and get an idea of their faces shape but what we see is often blurred by what we want and not what we really have. Personally I like exact numbers, remember there are some faces that fall in to two categories and can easily pull of looks from two different categories. So if you want to get technical, here is a little math that can help you find your perfect category.

First off, start by measuring across the top of your cheekbones. Place the end of your tape measure just past the outer corner of your eye. Then lay the tape measure in a straight line across the bridge of your nose just past the outer corner of your other eye. The tape measure should be resting on the top of the top of your cheekbone.

Write down this measurement.
Next, measure your jaw line next. Start on one side of your jaw at the base near your ear. Run the measuring tape along your jaw line to the middle of your chin.

Mizani

In Swahili, the word "MIZANI" means balance and refers to the central concept behind the brand. Each MIZANI formula whether used alone or in combination, gently works to balance the forces of beauty and chemistry, creating radiantly healthy hair. The founding principle of the brand is "Beauty and Chemistry in Balance." The balance refers to the moisture protein equilibrium that endows hair with the strength and flexibility it needs to stay healthy.

In 1991, Soft Sheen and Redken Laboratories, developed the original MIZANI brand that debuted with nine products offering a collection of holistic premium salon-exclusive hair care and treatment products targeted to the African American salon/stylist and their clientele. In 2001, after existing as part of the Soft-Sheen Carson group in Chicago where MIZANI initially served as their professional hair care brand, MIZANI evolved into the L’Oréal Professional Products Division.

Today, MIZANI, a division of L’Oréal USA, is a complete line of professional treatments, relaxers, shampoos, conditioners, and styling products designed to meet the expanding needs of today’s global beauty community. Through its advanced, patented technology, MIZANI has discovered new ways to care not only for your hair, but for your scalp as well. Each MIZANI formula is customized to suit the individual needs of each hair type. From naturally curly and highly textured to color-treated, relaxed and everything in between, MIZANI offers a specialized, salon-exclusive hair care system designed to restore every hair type to its ultimate state of balance.

<![CDATA[Hair color principles to stick with:]]>

Hair color

Although a few women look good in any color, most don’t. We all know that special someone that needs a serious “color intervention.” The principles mentioned below are not unique to this blog they are just plain common sense. Unfortunately you just have to walk out side and see that common sense isn’t so common. So here are some questions to ask you’re self.

Blonde
When you were a child, did you have blonde hair? If so then you'll most likely look great as a blonde now. If you’re light skinned, burn easy and blue or green eyes, I’m sure you’ll look good with blonde hair but you may want to avoid the strawberry shades. Do you have sallow like skin and yellow undertones? Then shy away from deep gold’s.

Brown
Are you the pale skinned? I don’t mean “need a tan pale”; I mean the movie “Powder” kind of pale. If so then stay far away from dark browns! You’ll look sickly, and much older.

Red
What shade of red? Generally any woman can pull off some kind of red; it just depends on the shade. With the new technology, reds that were previously high maintenance now stay bright and beautiful for much longer and don’t wash out like they did before.

<![CDATA[Kim Kardashian Blonde at the Teen Choice Awards]]>

Kim Kardashians Blonde Look

Kim Kardashian, who recently broke up with her star athlete boyfriend, New Orleans Saints NFL football player Reggie Bush, debuts her fresh new Blonde look.

Breakups do funny things to people. Men hit the gym and or get on a plane or go out carousing. Women usually change their hair - the cut, the color, or both. Kim Kardashian has gone to the extreme - she’s gone blonde, and deputed the new honey-colored look at the Teen Choice Awards on Sunday night.

Sure, she’s donned blonde wigs, but this time, it’s for real, and no doubt it took many hours in the salon. “I went blonde!” she wrote on her blog. “My hairstylist Clyde Haygood orchestrated the whole thing and Rebecca from Goodform Salon dyed it! She also asked her blog readers, “What do you think? I am really loving it!” No doubt, there will be some pro’s, some minuses, but all in all, our view is that she didn’t go the usual brunette-to-yellow-blonde WAY TOO FAR: she’s got some dark streaks in it, mixed in light brown pieces, and since her pro hair team (Clyde Haygood’s worked with Michael Jackson,Cameron Diaz, David Bowie, Eva Mendes, Gwen Stefani, W Magazine, Allure, Vanity Fair, French Vogue, Allure and done much more) knew what they were doing and matched her color to her tawny skintone, it actually works.

Which shade do we like better? We’re not sure yet. This is a good summer look, but fall is right around the corner. Well, Kim seems to
care a bit less about actual fashion and trends, and more about the MALE OPINION - and we all know how men feel about hair color. Or is that an old concept? Kim’s new love life will determine that! Her very blonde friend Paris Hilton doesn’t seem to ever lack for male attention. - Reposted: Merle Ginsberg Fashion Rules

<![CDATA[Hair Color care for damaged hair!]]> Colored Hair

Absorbing color and retaining color are two different properties. Damaged hair has greater porosity than undamaged so it absorbs dye more quickly; but just because it takes to color faster, that doesn't mean it holds it better or longer. Healthy hair holds color longer than damaged hair.

If your hair is stressed and over-processed, it will benefit from ammonia-free products, especially if you're looking to maintain your natural color or go darker. (You can't go lighter with ammonia-free formula.) When the hair shaft is hydrated and conditioned, both before and after coloring, it will lock in moisture and seal in the color, giving you better results.

All hair Color will fade eventually.Make sure to maitain your color investment by using products that will maintain the color as long as possible. You can protect and preserve your new color by using specially formulated products like the new Nexxus Chroma Life.
